What graduates say about Brownson Tech
Ceasar Morais-Yun “I have the best job EVER!” After graduating from Brownson Technical School, Ceasar was hired as a field service technician for ARS Services. He would have never thought of getting into the field of Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning Technology if it hadn’t been for a presentation he attended put on by Bill Brown, Director of Brownson Technical School. The presentation was organized by Workability Case Manager, Shirley Dailey of Norwalk/LaMirada High School District. Ceasar claims he had no idea the wages and demand were so high for Refrigeration/HVAC service technicians. As a High School student, he had difficulty with reading and writing. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to do after high school, but he knew his future definitely did not include College of any kind. He could not picture himself sitting behind a desk all day. Now Ceasar goes to different places each day in his company vehicle working on Commercial HVAC units. “I chose Brownson Technical School because the training was mostly hands on. I was in class with several classmates from high school and made many more friends that I still keep in touch with after graduation. I am very grateful for the decision I made to attend Brownson Technical School. I loved the training, staff and teachers!” Colt Buranatt Like many 18 year olds, Colt Buranatt found himself in a dead end job wondering what he wanted to be when he grew up. The thought of a 2 or 4 year college was not for him. After graduating high school, Colt got a job working in a popular gym. He enjoyed the work, but soon realized it offered very little future. A friend of his, a former graduate of Brownson Technical School, suggested the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, (HVAC/R). Colt gave it some thought and even admits he “lagged” in pursuing it. He visited the school and after touring the facility and meeting with an admissions representative, he decided it might be the best thing for him. There were other training programs available to him. He checked out a Junior College and decided he did not want to spend 2 years in a classroom learning the same thing he could learn in half the time at Brownson Technical School. He visited another vocational school but discovered it was almost twice the tuition and he would only learn Residential Heating and Air Conditioning. With the help of Patti Gallagher, the Financial Aid director, Colt was able to enroll in the school. “Patti was very helpful in Financial Aid. She made it possible for me to get started and eased my fears regarding Financial Aid.” In October, 2005 Colt enrolled in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration with Direct Digital Control Technology class offered at Brownson Technical School. According to Colt, “It was the best thing that ever happened to me! I just wished I would have started sooner!” A few weeks before graduating, Colt met with Director of Placement, JoAnn Goddard, and had a resume prepared and was beginning his job search. “JoAnn was terrific! She worked with me to find the best position for me.” Colt graduated from school on July 5, 2006 and began his new career AS A Field Service Technician with Carl’s Junior restaurants, CKE, on July 13, 2006. “I have the perfect job and I love it!’ Colt exclaims. “I’m making great money, have a company vehicle and good benefits! My territory is Huntington Beach where I do a lot of preventive maintenance working on the A/C, refrigeration, ice machines, soda dispensing machines and much more. I wouldn’t have been qualified for a position like this without the hands on experience I received at Brownson Technical School. I’ve never been the type of student to just read and study material. I need to be able to actually practice on equipment, and the school provided me with plenty of hands-on-training in the lab. The staff was great and the owner/instructor, Don Brown, was amazing! Don knows so much about this industry. I feel honored to have been a student of his. He is a great teacher and made sure I learned what I needed to be employable in this field.” Colt credits the program and his instructors at Brownson Technical School for his success, but his hard work and dedication while at school is what truly made the difference. Congratulations to Colt and the instructors for a job well done! Daniel Palma Daniel Palma was tired of working "dead end" jobs. When Daniel was out of work, his sister suggested he look into a career in Heating, Cooling, and Commercial Refrigeration. She had also heard of Daniel has put in a lot of hard work, first as a student to get good grades and learn his new career, then as an employee of an international 5 star hotel chain. Daniel is now the lead engineer for his shift, in one of their Orange County, California locations - and couldn't be happier. This success has allowed him to buy his first house and to be able to better support his family.
Daniel works with very large heating and cooling equipment like chillers and boilers, plus commercial refrigeration and kitchen equipment. This equipment is vitally important to keeping the guests at his hotel happy. As it turns out, quite a number of Daniel's co-workers also attended Brownson Technical School. Now when Daniel is looking for someone to fill a position at the hotel, he contacts Brownson Technical School and requests a graduate or someone just about to graduate. |
