Are you looking for a superstar?

Who else would you want to hire for your next Field Service Technician? You don’t want to hire a dud - but, frequently, that is exactly what happens……

What is the cost of hiring the so called “dud”? Let’s start with $600 to $1,500 to the Orange County Register or LA Times for one week of want ads. What do you get?

A) Laid off installers claiming to be Technicians.

B) Someone else’s problem – substance problems, attitude problems, etc……

C) Someone that has a college degree in electronics that lives in Kalamazoo, willing to move to Southern California; to try their hand at HVAC/R.

D) All of the above – PLUS they all want lots of money to start working, because of all of their, ahem, experience.

The correct answer for me has typically been answer D.

I tried to hire good solid Service Techs, but very few were the person I was looking for. So, you run more ads. You interview more people. They all start to sound alike, and none of them are the answer to your needs.

You may say: “What is going on here? I thought we were in a recession! Why can’t I find a qualified Technician?”

What is the answer?

It’s really simple - hire one of our graduates. We don’t charge you for our placement services. We want our students to get great jobs with great companies. Companies just like your company!

What happens when you hire a student just getting into the field? For one thing, this person hasn’t had a chance to develop bad habits (like “venting” regulated refrigerants).

Graduates realize they will need to put in some time to go up the wage scale. We have done our best to teach them how to be the best employees possible. Here are some parts of the curriculum that you should know about.

All graduates receive extensive HANDS-ON Training and should be:

♦ Able to do basic service without much training on your part. They have all charged equipment using Superheat and Sub-cooling as necessary. They can run fairly simple calls, now. Within 30 to 90 days, look out! Within 6 months, one of these guys could be your top Tech!

♦ Able to work on R-410a Systems. The school has an in-house 410a certification, all students work on R-410a equipment.

♦ Able to do well on electrical Troubleshooting. We train these students to troubleshoot electrical problems on ACTUAL EQUIPMENT found in the field, not in a classroom on a breadboard project, though those techniques are valuable, they are secondary to actually working on the real thing.

♦ Very good with System Troubleshooting. They have extensive training on Sealed System Troubleshooting – with training on Pressure Enthalpy and should possess a thorough understanding of how systems work and what makes them fail.

♦ Section 608 EPA certified in refrigerant handling. Most of our graduates are certified as Universal.

♦ Trained (with a certificate) in Customer Service (soft skills, how to deal with customers, etc..)

♦ Aware of new product trends and new technologies. Especially in the Energy Efficiency, zoning, and Controls side (HVACR/DDC grads).

In short, we are probably working with your future superstar right this moment! Wouldn’t you like to meet them? Call us up and ask for “Placement” at: 800 799-9891 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to e-mail our placement department. You can FAX us at: 714 774-5025

Our students have spent their time, energy, and own money to pay for this training – this fact alone could possibly set them apart from things you could have experienced with other schools.

Please remember, we want to be your solution for hiring great Field Service Technicians so any feedback about our graduates, whether positive or negative is always appreciated.
