Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) QUESTION:“How do I pay for training, I don’t have ANY MONEY?”Answer:Education is an investment – it is an investment that requires time, effort as well as $$. The good news is, if you are willing to supply the time and the effort, Brownson Technical School will work to help you find the financial help to get this career going. Brownson Technical School offers Financial aid to those who qualify. Financial aid could include: Pell Grants, Title IV student loans, VA benefits, WIA, TRA-TAA, and private loans. Contact us so we can determine what you qualify for! Brownson Technical School attempts to keep tuition costs low to allow participation in various sponsored retraining programs such as WIA and TRA-TAA, as well as minimize the need for financial aid students needing to take out private loans that have horribly high interest rates. QUESTION:Will I qualify for financial aid?Answer:Many factors determine eligibility for the different financial aid programs. Everyone’s situation is different from everyone else’s. You really need to visit the school and consult with a financial aid professional. It just so happens, we have someone you can speak with and get all of those details – or we can help you get information about sponsoring agencies. Please contact us for an appointment! QUESTION:How long does it take to complete training?Answer:Programs vary in length and there are different schedules – day or evening. The day programs run from 26 weeks to 37 weeks depending upon which program you select. Evening programs run from 50 weeks to 81 weeks depending upon which program you select. Please call us for more details. QUESTION:What types of jobs can graduates qualify for?Answer:Graduates are qualified for a variety of highly paid jobs with this training. QUESTION:How do I get the skills to get into this great career – how long will it take?Answer:Most really great technicians went to school to get their skills. Just as you would want your Doctor to have gone to school to learn how to properly work on you, customers want you to go to school to learn how to properly work on their delicate and expensive HVAC-Refrigeration equipment. Problem is, who has the time to spend years learning a new career? Good news! Brownson Technical Schools offer accelerated training, geared to get you into the career FAST. How do we do this? Time after time, virtually all evidence points to hands-on training as being the best, fastest way to learn most things. When you learned how to ride a bicycle, you probably didn’t go to classroom to learn it, you probably went out on the street and kept trying until you learned how to ride that bicycle. Brownson Technical School also believes that the best way to learn this technical field is to actually get your hands on the real equipment, then learn by doing. Yes, time will have to be spent in the classroom due to the highly technical nature of the work, but at Brownson Technical School, students spend as much time as possible in the hands-on part of the training. Want to know how to spot a school that does hands-on training? It looks like a working shop, it might not be as pretty and clean as some schools, but you can see the evidence of work being done. The opposite is true of schools that don’t do hands-on training, it is easy for them to be nice and clean, not much going on there. Another factor that has an effect on learning would be what kind of instructors teach at the school. Finding and keeping good instructors is difficult. Instructors must first, be well trained themselves, they must also know how to teach. This requires finding more than someone that knows the field, it means finding some that knows the field and can communicate it to others. Brownson Technical School has a commitment to hiring quality, qualified, committed instructors to make learning as easy and believe it or not, as much fun as possible.
